Line Hotel Downtown Austin
Developer: Sydell Group
Architect: Michael Hsu
Contract Hardware Distributor: Sierra West Finish
This building, originally constructed in 1965 has become a part of downtown Austin history. Once home to a jazz club that broadcast live on local radio, the LINE seeks to foster and continue this storied legacy that showcases Austin's emerging artists.
This remodel of the previous Raddison came with the opening up of the guestroom floorplans. The swinging doors of the bathrooms were axed with more usable floor space in mind. The sophisticated SofStop was employed on the pocket doors with the CL400 Magnetic for bathroom privacy. Also pictured is the bypass tracks used on the closet openings.
Laurie McCowan returns to Austin in 2021 to revisit the project. To no one's surprise, the track systems are still working perfectly.
