CS Cavity Slider Pocket Frame Extras

In every construction project, there is an overlap in trades working together. To ensure that the CS Cavity Slider Pocket Frame's throat remains in place and uncompressed, we've designed the Jamb Spreader.

The Jamb Spreader

Introduction

In every construction project, there is an overlap in trades working together. Pocket door openings have often been subject to issues as a result of this. The key problem is generally the compression of the throat of the pocket by drywall crews. The Jamb Spreader has been designed to minimize any risk here.

In addition, the Aluminum Split Jambs of the Cavity Slider are slightly bowed out in our facility to widen the throat at the middle height of the opening. This creates slightly more clearance where handle hardware is fitted.

What Jamb Spreader do I need for my Cavity Slider Pocket Door Installation?

If you have a new SofStop (July 2024) and/or CS Cavity Slider Ultimate Pocket Door Frame, your jamb spreader will double as the SofStop Activator Setting Block (left) or it will come with an additional gold Jamb Spreader only to be used on 2x6 pockets (right).

How do I install the Jamb Spreader?

The Jamb Spreader is intended to be installed BEFORE drywall. Place the Jamb Spreader at the center of the pocket height with the notches horizontally oriented so they align over the split jambs. It can now be screwed in with drywall screws or taped. It may be removed after the drywall is applied.

What is the Jamb Spreader?

The Jamb Spreader ensures that the CS Cavity Slider Pocket Frame's split jambs are not compressed after installation. Once installed, the split jambs of the Cavity Slider Pocket Frame should be rounded out to accommodate any slight bowing of the door and allow door hardware to clear the jambs. Using the Jamb Spreader ensures the round out is maintained when fixing drywall or any other construction components during the build.

Why is the Jamb Spreader Necessary?

The integration of the Jamb Spreader with the CS Cavity Slider Pocket Frame during installation offers an easy and practical solution to the common issues that arise from overlapping trades during construction. By preventing the compression of the pocket's throat, the Jamb Spreader helps maintain the integrity of the Aluminum Split Jambs, ensuring that the pocket door operates smoothly and the handle hardware clears the jambs without obstruction. This attention to detail in design not only simplifies the installation process but also guarantees long-lasting performance, making the CS Cavity Slider Pocket Frame a reliable choice in any construction project.
